Principal Consultant - Permanent

2i specialises in delivering software testing services for organisations ranging in size from public sector organisations to international finance houses. At the core of our business is the provision of large scale managed testing services, resource augmentation, test governance, automation testing, and test consultancy to help with the delivery of a specific project or programme.

Since our inception in 2005, we have developed into a mature provider of testing services deploying nearly 100 staff across the UK, with our main areas of operation being in Edinburgh where our Head Office is located, Glasgow and London.

We are looking for a true Subject Matter expert and in turn you will get access to working on a range of projects ranging from Digital Transformations, Mergers, Mobile Platforms and Regulatory change. Crossing a range of industries that include; finance, Public Sector and leading technology companies. You will gain exposure to a variety of tools and technologies that will allow you to continuously develop as a subject matter expert in technical testing.

The main accountabilities:

  • Pro-actively contribute towards our automation and engineering strategy, as well as our engineering principles, practices and standards.
  • Ability to suggest, implement and effect significant change on Automation tooling, processes, practices and raising awareness across key initiatives.
  • Recruitment and line management of Automation engineering staff.
  • Lead innovation to meet the changing demands of our clients using emerging industry trends and standards.
  • To utilise agile test approaches to enable early and continuous delivery of software.

  • Co-ordinate and support QA Engineers and other members of the team to ensure Testing adds value and meets the guidance from the Test Approach

Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Lead innovation to meet the changing demands of our clients using emerging industry trends and standards.
  • In-depth knowledge of agile software engineering methodologies and processes with a high level of experience defining and implementing software through the software development lifecycle.
  • High level knowledge of Selenium (essential), UFT or eggPlant to lead customer conversations and guide more junior team members.
  • Previous development experience with an OOP language (such as Java or C#) is a benefit.
  • Knowledge of Test Design: BDD / TDD / Requirements Review / Cucumber-SpecFlow.
  • Previously worked in Agile/DevOps environments.
  • Good knowledge of continuous integration, continuous deployment and the tooling used to support these activities, such as Jenkins.

  • Experience in programming skills and competence in relevant languages and technologies (e.g. Java, Java Script).
