2i’s baseline emissions have been reported for operations for the year 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025. As a professional services company, our operations are administration-based. We have initiated our carbon emissions assessment (in accordance with Greenhouse Gas Protocol), calculating our direct emissions (Scope 1 and 2) and wider emissions (Scope 3). See scope details.

*2025 note: 2i's total carbon footprint rose year-on-year in 2025, mainly reflecting headcount growth from recent acquisitions rather than a worsening of underlying practices. 2i states it remains focused on improving the completeness of its emissions data and identifying further reduction opportunities as it scales.

Waste Reduction: Implementing strategies to reduce waste generation within the business. 
Resource Efficiency: Promoting responsible and conscious usage of water and electricity among staff. 
Material Recycling: Actively engaging in extensive recycling practices to minimise material waste.

Technology-Enabled Travel Reduction: Harnessing technology to decrease the need for physical travel. 
Travel Emissions Reduction: Actively reducing business travel by air, rail, and road through measurement and a sustainable travel policy.

Supplier Collaboration: Working with suppliers to understand their emissions profiles. 
Climate Integration in Decision-Making: Embedding climate considerations into business strategy. 
Carbon Impact Education: Ongoing employee education to reduce carbon footprint within and outside the workplace. 
Transparent Environmental Reporting: Sharing environmental metrics internally and externally.

As we actively pursue these measures to reduce our carbon footprint, 2i is fully committed to our journey toward net zero emissions by 2050. By implementing the measures outlined above and continuously seeking sustainable solutions, we are confident that we can make a significant positive impact as an organisation for a more eco-conscious future.

Completed carbon reduction initiatives

Moved into a new office space utilising 100% renewable energy. 
Launched an electric vehicle scheme, providing employees access to clean personal travel with a company-provided discount. 
Continued success of the cycle to work scheme, with many eligible employees participating. 
Encouraged all employees to use public transport (bus and train) for business travel, limiting air travel where possible. 
Held the annual 2i Connect conference at a venue in Glasgow chosen for easy access by public transport, minimising travel-related emissions. 
2025: Partnered with The Future Forest Company to plant 102 native broadleaf trees across the UK, supporting reforestation and biodiversity (saving not separately quantified in tCO2e). 
2025: Partnered with Edinburgh Remakery to securely recycle and refurbish 19 laptops, saving approximately 6.7 tCO2e that would otherwise have resulted from manufacturing new devices and disposing of old ones. 
2025: Launched the Sustainability Guild to champion environmental initiatives and engage employees in ESG activities.

Declaration and Sign Off

Declaration and Sign Off This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 006 and associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans. Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the GHG Reporting Protocol corporate standard and uses the appropriate Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting. Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with SECR requirements (where required), and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions have been reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard. This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by Pauline Smith, Chief Operating Officer at 2i.
