2i partners with the MS Society to raise funds and awareness for people affected by MS

2i has launched a 15-month UK charity partnership with the MS Society, bringing colleagues across the business together to raise funds and awareness to support people affected by multiple sclerosis (MS). The partnership aims to raise £30,000 for the charity.

The partnership will be led by 2i’s Charity Guild, an employee-led group that chooses and coordinates the company’s charitable activity. It follows a team step-count challenge in June, in which 50 employees walked 15,476,468 steps and raised £445 for charity. Colleagues will help shape a programme of fundraising and awareness activities, with volunteering opportunities explored alongside the charity.

More than 150,000 people across the UK, including more than 17,000 in Scotland, live with MS. The condition affects nerves in the brain and spinal cord and can impact how people move, think and feel. Symptoms vary from person to person and are often invisible.

The charity was chosen because MS has personal significance for members of the 2i team, including people living with the condition and those who support them. The partnership gives colleagues a shared way to learn more and contribute to the MS Society’s work.

Pauline Smith, Chief Operating Officer at 2i, said:

“This is a cause with personal meaning for colleagues at 2i. Through the partnership, we want to build understanding of MS and give our teams practical ways to support the charity. Our Charity Guild will help colleagues shape activities and share our progress throughout the partnership.”

The MS Society funds research, provides information and support, and campaigns to improve the lives of people affected by MS. Its free MS Help Hub offers emotional support and information, including benefits and legal advice, while local groups bring people together across the UK.

Jo Anderson, Director for Scotland at the MS Society, said:

“We’re excited to launch our partnership with 2i, and we’d like to thank staff at the organisation for choosing to support the MS Society for the next 15 months. More than 17,000 people in Scotland, and more than 150,000 people throughout the UK, live with MS. It can be debilitating, exhausting, and unpredictable. The MS Society is here to improve the lives of everyone affected by MS, through research, campaigning, and support. The money 2i raises will help us continue this vital work. And our partnership will lead to an increased awareness of MS and the impact it has on so many lives. We look forward to working with 2i and supporting them to make a positive difference to the MS community.”
