2i are delighted to announce that Katarzyna Kmiotek has been nominated for the ScotlandIS Digital Tech for Good, Unsung Hero Award. This is for someone who has done something truly special for the community and deserves the recognition that they might not usually get.

Having left CodeClan 9 months ago Kat has been on a mission to help others ever since.

Kat has been a leading member of the Glasgow chapter of CodeBar. Codebar is a charity that facilitates the growth of a diverse tech community by running free regular programming workshops for minority groups in tech. Kat has worked to organise mentors, set up workshops and directly mentored students. She regularly contributes to the positive conversation on the group's slack channel of 100+ people.

“Since joining 2i Kat has been an absolute star. Her dedication to helping others is extraordinary”
Adam Pettman, Head of Engineering at 2i

Kat's enthusiasm for learning is infectious and she has harnessed this to great effect. By evangelising for technology she has helped others to better themselves and believe in their own abilities. I will often hear Kat say “I can't wait to help people learn this”, her desire to help people follow her on her progression through her recent career change is admirable. Kat has hosted multiple lunches and learns with the goal of helping to upskill traditional testers towards Quality Engineering. From Mock Servers to the importance of Testing Internationalisation, Kats sessions are full of insight and delivered with passion.

Beyond this, Kat is a strong advocate for the benefits of improving diversity and ensuring that our recruitment process is fair for all. She has actively participated in preparing candidates for interviews for other companies as she is now aware of typical interview questions and assessments.

2i wish all the nominees the best of luck, we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed until the awards ceremony on the 23rd of June.
